Interior Style-Shabby Chic
A great thing about this style of home is that it allows you to bring all of your old different and interesting items together. Like, the antique sewing machine or bedside table your great grandma Edna gave you, or that strange doll, figurine or mask you had to pick up at that yard sale last weekend. For me it's most likely a rustic coffee table, authentic antique mason jars, a glass elephant and a piggy bank. But whatever it is for you, if you want to go shabby chic, we can make it work.
All you need is a little bit of random, a little bit of antique and a little bit of rustic. You throw it together and you have shabby chic. Okay, maybe it's not quite that easy, and you need a little bit more but it's almost that easy. And it's usually pretty inexpensive.
1. You definitely want an older looking or antique table. Try yard sales and the thrift store. If you don't like the color, we can paint or stain it to match the other furnishings.
2. If you are looking to do this style in a bed room, bed frames, head boards and foot boards can help with this look. If you don't have an older, shabby, rustic one, try using an old pallet or the wood from an old pallet-- you can stain or paint this later as well. Another bed idea is a metal pipe and railing foot board.
3. Your random stuff. Showcase your items on a bookshelf or display case. If you are the kind of person that likes to collect old interesting things, this is a great style to go with to show off each of the stories your knick-knacks have to share with the world.
4. Stay light.
5. For kitchens, wood or glass on brass works nicely for tables and chairs. A fun thing I've seen done is using a mismatch set of chairs. Each chair having it's own color and style.
6. For Living areas, thrown pillows can make a big difference, light colors and fun patterns with minimal texture and maybe even a tastle or two can really bring it all together.
